What happens when a brand like Blue Banana decides to embrace innovation??
What we’re seeing are real results, a direct impact and a case study that has already become a benchmark.
Just over a year ago, we embarked on an ambitious project with Blue Banana: to roll out RFID technology across its entire logistics chain. This involved tackling significant challenges, a great capacity for learning and seamless coordination between teams. Today, that commitment has resulted in an operational transformation that is improving both internal efficiency and the customer experience.
On 12 June, we publicly shared this success story at the event organised by STC Retail at the Cotton House Hotel in Barcelona: ‘The Democratisation of RFID: The Blue Banana Case’, alongside key partners who have made this project possible, such as Shopify, Kyubi System, Storelink and Zebra Technologies.

How has Blue Banana made this possible?
The key has been to implement RFID at every stage of the product lifecycle. From the outset, all Blue Banana garments are tagged with RFID at source, enabling them to be uniquely identified – as if each garment had its own ID number. This ensures total control throughout the entire supply chain and guarantees that every consignment arrives in-store fully traceable and 100 per cent verified.
Once in-store, processes such as stock receipts, transfers between shops, locating items and stock-taking are automated thanks to the combination of these tags, RFID readers and the RFID software: Cixxonia.
At the point of sale, the technology has also marked a turning point: the barcode is now a thing of the past. Checkout is now automatic, requiring no direct line of sight and allowing multiple items to be scanned at once simply by passing them over the idPOS.
Finally, in-store security has also evolved: state-of-the-art anti-theft antennas (whether the idPOS ceiling-mounted model or the idGate Pro pedestals) offer a detection rate of over 95 per cent. This enables smart alarms to be triggered, providing real-time information on which specific item has been stolen. The result: a shift from unknown shrinkage to controlled and traceable shrinkage.
And best of all: all of this is fully integrated with Blue Banana’s systems (ERP and POS), creating a complete and fully functional RFID ecosystem.

A project with a real impact. Here are some of the most notable results:
-
The first brand in the world to integrate RFID with Shopify POS, thanks to Storelink. A pioneering integration that marks a turning point.
-
97% stock accuracy, and rising. What’s more, the team now has a clear understanding of the causes of stock discrepancies.
-
Automatic stock-taking, goods receipt and checkout in record time. Processes that used to take hours are now completed in minutes, allowing staff to devote more time to what really matters: the customer.
-
Improved shopping experience: fewer out-of-stock items, checkout times reduced by up to 50 per cent and a more personalised service.
-
A strong relationship between teams. We have built a partnership with Blue Banana based on trust and mutual learning.
- Significant reduction in theft and losses, both internal and external.
During the round-table discussion, César Domínguez Zambrano, COO of Blue Banana, summed it up perfectly:
“The important thing is to add value to what really matters: the customer.”
And that is precisely what we have done with this project.

RFID: from a giant to an accessible solution
The roll-out of RFID is no longer the preserve of large retailers. Today, it is an accessible tool for medium-sized, small or digital-native brands that are experiencing rapid growth and seeking to optimise their operations through control and strategic vision in order to scale up.
Thank you to the team at Blue Banana for their trust, and for seeing this project through to completion.

RFID isn’t the future. It’s the present.
As one of our partners puts it when asked about STC: “The STC team is the heart and soul of RFID.” And we’re here to support brands in making this a reality.
