What happens when a brand like Blue Banana chooses to invest in innovation?

The result is measurable outcomes, a direct business impact, and a project that has already become a benchmark in the industry.

Just over a year ago, we launched an ambitious project with Blue Banana: implementing RFID technology across its entire logistics chain. It involved significant challenges, continuous learning and close collaboration between teams. Today, that investment has resulted in an operational transformation that is improving both internal efficiency and the customer experience.

On June 12, we presented this success story during STC Retail's event at the Cotton House Hotel in Barcelona: "The Democratisation of RFID: The Blue Banana Case", alongside key partners who made this project possible, including Shopify, Kyubi System, Storelink and Zebra Technologies.

How did Blue Banana make it happen?

The key has been implementing RFID at every stage of the product lifecycle. From the very beginning, every Blue Banana garment is RFID-tagged at source, giving each item a unique identity - like its own digital ID. This ensures complete control throughout the logistics chain, with every shipment arriving at the store fully traceable and 100% verified.

In-store processes such as goods receiving, inter-store transfers, item location and inventory counts are automated through the combination of RFID tags, RFID readers and the Cixxonia RFID software platform.

At the point of sale, RFID has completely changed the checkout experience. Traditional barcode scanning has been replaced by automatic RFID reading, allowing multiple items to be scanned simultaneously without direct line of sight by simply placing them on the idPOS.

Store security has also evolved. The latest loss prevention antennas—whether ceiling-mounted idPOS systems or idGate Pro pedestals—deliver detection rates above 95%. They trigger intelligent alarms that identify exactly which item has been removed in real time, transforming unknown losses into controlled and fully traceable events.

Best of all, everything is fully integrated with Blue Banana's ERP and POS systems, creating a complete end-to-end RFID ecosystem.

A project with real business impact. Here are some of the key results:

  • The world's first brand to integrate RFID with Shopify POS, thanks to Storelink - a pioneering integration that sets a new industry benchmark.
  • 97% inventory accuracy, with continuous improvement over time. The team can now clearly identify the causes of inventory discrepancies.
  • Inventory counts, goods receiving and checkout processes are now completed automatically in record time. Tasks that previously took hours now take minutes, allowing staff to focus on what matters most: the customer.
  • A better shopping experience through fewer stockouts, checkout times reduced by up to 50%, and more personalised customer service.
  • A strong partnership between teams, built on trust, collaboration and shared learning
  • A significant reduction in both internal and external theft-related losses.

During the panel discussion, Blue Banana COO César Domínguez Zambrano summed it up perfectly:

“What really matters is adding value where it matters most: the customer.”

And that's exactly what this project has achieved.

RFID: From Enterprise Technology to an Accessible Solution

RFID is no longer reserved for large retailers. Today, it is an accessible solution for medium-sized businesses, growing brands and digital-native retailers looking to optimise operations with greater control and strategic visibility.

Our thanks to the Blue Banana team for their trust and for taking this journey with us.

RFID isn't the future. It's already here.

As one of our partners likes to say when asked about STC: "The STC team is the soul of RFID." We're here to help brands turn that vision into reality.

FAQ
